Actor and influencer Anthony Hamilton Jr had the opportunity to test out Meta’s AI upgrade for the Quest early this week. This upgrade, known as “Meta AI with Vision,” will be officially introduced to Quest 3 users in August through the Experimental section of the settings menu, coinciding with the v68 firmware update.
The new AI feature enhances voice commands on Quest by using the headset’s cameras with user permission to view the surroundings and answer questions. Previously, Quest apps were limited to system-created playspaces for privacy reasons, but this update marks a significant milestone in potentially opening up access to the camera for mixed reality apps in the future.
Rumors and leaks about the Meta Quest 3s have been circulating, with VR Panda providing an early look at this potential new budget headset. The Quest 3s is expected to feature the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset and color mixed reality vision, all at an anticipated price of $299.
Avatars may get a big graphics upgrade
